Here’s a good article my friend wrote about the loveliness of Jesus our shepherd.
Have you ever thought about the shepherd life? Standing in fields all day, watching a creature that, on its own would walk off a cliff. Literally forever watching a drunk friend make a fool of himself. I’m sure if you are like me, you’ve heard the passage “We all like sheep have gone astray, each has gone his own way…” Notice the trail off though. If we continued this passage it would say “and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” Strange that for myself, I never learned the second part, just the first. We are quick to point out our sin and iniquity but not point to Christ within. See this is why he was the good shepherd; he went the extra mile to make sure we could never “walk off that sin cliff.”
That last statement may come out of left field for you…
